Day 1: Malang - Madakaripura waterfalls - Cemara Lawang
You will reach Cemara Lawang in about 3 hours. Before reaching Cemara Lawang you can visit the mystical waterfall Madakaripura. To reach the waterfall we cross a small beautiful river with clear fresh water and andesit stones. After a 15 minutes walk, you will see the falling water. Be ready to get wet... Behind the waterfall is a small cave, that is known as the meditation site of Gajahmada.
After your visit to the waterfall, we continue to the village Cemara Lawang village. Here you are free to explore the area or just relax in your hotel.
Day 2: Mt. Pananjakan - Mt. Bromo - Ijen Plateau
At 03:30 in the morning, which indeed is very very early, you depart to Mt. Pananjakan. The highest view point around the crater of Mt. Bromo, from where you can see the sunrise (depending on weather conditions) and will have an astonishing panorama of Mt. Bromo and Mt. Semeru.
After you have warmed up a little bit, we will drive through the Sea of Sand to visit the active volcano Mt. Bromo. Walk in just 40 minutes to the crater rim, stop several times and enjoy where you actually are. Once back at your 4WD, you will be brought back to your hotel in Cemara Lawang to have breakfast.
After breakfast, you will have to check out to get back in the car and on your way to the Ijen Plateau. You can have a break (not included) at the beach Pasir Putih, or somewhere else if you like. Then it is another 4 hours drive to the village Sempol at the Ijen Plateau. If time is sufficient, you can visit the coffee factory, the sulfuric hot spring, and the waterfall. Then it will be time for dinner and have a rest before another early morning wake up call.
Day 3: Ijen Crater Lake - Meru Betiri - Sukamade
At 04:30 you will have to get up and around 05:00 you will find yourself back in the car again. Off you are to Paltuding. From here you start walking to the Ijen Crater Lake. Although it is just a 3 km walk, it takes more than an hour to get there. This rather steep walk will be rewarded with a magnificent view over the blue greenish Ijen Crater Lake; the most acidic lake on earth. While hiking, you will meet a lot of sulfur miners. They carry baskets full of sulfur stones on their shoulders. Once back at the parking area don't forget to visit the sulfur weighing area just behind it.
Before departing, enjoy a cup of coffee and some local snacks, because it will take another 5 to 6 hours to reach your next destination. In Pesanggaran you can enjoy a local lunch before changing cars. You will have to get by 4WD to the Meru Betiri National Park. En-route you will have some interesting stops.
In the evening at 7 o'clock a park ranger will guide you to the Sukamade turtle beach. That is a 3 kilometer sand strip on the Indian Ocean where 5 species of turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. Female turtles lay more than one hundred eggs. The sea turtles usually come ashore around 19:30 and return to the sea around midnight.
Day 4: Sukamade - Ketapang - Gilimanuk - Bali
The last day will also be a long day. The first thing in the morning is releasing baby turtles at the beach Sukamade. Once done, we will get back to the homestay for breakfast. Then, prepare to check out.
On the way to Ketapang harbor we will pass (and visit if you wish) 2 beautiful beaches, namely Green Bay and Rajegwesi beach. Then we will stop for lunch in a local restaurant, before finally we will take you to the harbor in Ketapang. Crossing the strait to Bali takes about 1 hour and Bali time is 1 hour behind Java time.
