tumpak-sewu-and-bromo-tourThe Indonesian Niagara waterfalls can be found in Malang, in East Java province. The waterfall goes under the name Tumpak Sewu, Javanese for a thousand waterfalls. The falls form a curtain of water flowing from the cliffs. It is absolutely awesome when a rainbow shows.

Day 1: Malang - Explore Tumpak Sewu - Cemara Lawang, Bromo

You will be picked up at your hotel in Malang early morning at 07:00.
You are directly heading to Pronojiwo village about 2 hours from Malang. A good time to catch beautiful moments is in the morning. That is why it is best to depart pretty early.
Right after you arrived at the parking lot, you continue on foot. There is a viewpoint and you can head down to get near the foot of the waterfalls. A local guide is coming along too.
The hike to the foot of the waterfalls is very steep and you will encounter a bamboo ladder of about 15 m.
Wear good hiking shoes and be prepared to get your feet wet as there are small streams across the path. Insect repellant is essential too! The hike is challenging but doable. Not suitable for the old and the young though.
You will find yourself seeing an outstanding landscape of thousands "sewu" waterfalls. Spend your time by capturing some amazing views on your camera.
After you are satisfied, prepare yourself to continue your journey to Cemara Lawang village. The driver takes about 4 to 5hours.
Hotel: Cafe Lava, Bromo Permai or similar

Day 2: See the sunrise over Mount Bromo - Surabaya / Ketapang, ferry to Bali

The driver of a 4WD Jeep will pick you up at 03:00 at your hotel.
You will drive in about 45 minutes to Kingkong Hill, which is one of the best viewpoints to witness the sunrise. After the sun has risen you have an astonishing view over the caldera of the active volcano Bromo with its black volcanic Sea of Sand and the savanna.
Once the sun has warmed you a little, get back to your Jeep and drive to the Sand Sea. Enjoy the Sea of Sand, get out of the car if you wish to feel your surroundings and to capture some moments.
Then continue your drive to Mount Bromo. From the parking lot, it is a 45 minutes' walk to the top of the active volcano Bromo.
After enjoying the panorama, you will be brought back to your hotel in Cemara Lawang to have breakfast, a shower, and to check out. Hereafter you will be transferred to your drop off point either in Surabaya (3 to 4 hours drive) or at Ketapang harbour (a 7 to 8 hours drive).
